Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson booed by England fans when substituted
Jordan Henderson was booed by a number of England fans at Wembley after coming off in the second half against Australia on Friday night.
The former Liverpool captain had started the game in the centre of a midfield three, with Conor Gallagher and James Maddison lining up alongside him.
With the score at 1-0 after Ollie Watkins notched from a Jack Grealish cross/shot, Henderson was brought off just after the hour mark.
The 33-year-old was jeered by a section of supporters as his name was announced over the Wembley PA system.

Henderson was participating in his first fixture for the Three Lions on home soil since his controversial transfer to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq this summer, which saw him leave the Reds in favour of a lucrative switch to the Middle East.
He faced major criticism for this transfer having been a vocal supporter of LGBTQ+ groups during his time at Liverpool, only to then move to a country where homosexuality is criminalised.
Henderson was replaced tonight by Kieran Trippier - the defender who plays his club football for Newcastle United, a team owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund.
England boss Gareth Southgate previously defended his decision to continue selecting the 2019 Champions League winner at international level, insisting the morality of the midfielder's move did not come into his thinking.
“I don’t really know what the morality argument is because so many of our industries are wrapped up with Saudi investment,” Southgate said in August. “Given the situation with Russia we are reliant on Saudi Arabia for a lot of our oil.
