Former Liverpool star Didi Hamman tells Man United who to replace Erik ten Hag with
Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamman thinks Manchester United should replace Erik ten Hag with Julian Nagelsmann.
Ten Hag had a strong first season at Old Trafford but United are enduring a miserable campaign this time around. United crashed out of the Carabao Cup to Newcastle United midweek while their form in the Premier League and Champions League has been ropey at best.
Hamman sees fellow German, Nagelsmann, as the best fit to replace him. The 36-year-old is currently managing the German national team but his contract runs out in 2024 and Hamman thinks he would suit a Premier League move.
"Nagelsmann has done well and he did good things at Bayern,” Hamann told Boyle Sports.

"He's an up-and-coming manager who has shown he can win titles, even if was unfortunate in the Champions League. He'd certainly be somebody you'd have a good feeling about.”
Nagelsmann built his reputation at Hoffenheim where he became a manager at just 28. He took his skills forward with RB Leipzig but was ruthlessly sacked by Bayern because they felt he lacked an elite winning mentality.
He is known for playing an exciting brand of attacking football that fans enjoy seeing. However, Hamman questions whether United could give him a stable enough foundation to build his football on.
“He knows how to play football, but it depends if he was backed. You need to back your manager for two or three seasons, and I don't know if that's the case at United.
"There's a lot of chaos at Old Trafford. However, I don't think Julian would be a bad choice."
