Four friends claim their music is something that many 'haven't heard before'.
The members of Bonk!, who are all from the city centre, met while studying at university in Liverpool. They were drawn together after discovering they had all spent their school years more focused on playing music rather than reading textbooks or playing football at lunchtime.
Sam Robinson, who plays bass in the band, described music as a form of escapism for him. He said: “I was not a sporty person in high school.

“I liked that when you did music there wasn't that competitive side to it. I love that it's a constructive thing and it was also how me and my brother just communicated as well.
“We were in the same bands together growing up and we'd listen to all the same music. So just going through high school, at least for me personally, I was living in the music department and just neglecting all the other subjects really. Music originated as therapy and remains to be therapy."
Daniel Hewitt, the guitarist and lead singer, agreed, adding: “I think I relate to that, for sure. There was a club at school where you could go in at lunchtime and sort of play music. That was where I was every single lunchtime.”
For Remy Forest, who plays the drums, music was a way of getting back at his friends. Laughing, he said: “I started playing drums out of spite. All my friends knew how to play drums, and I was like, I want to do that. I started doing it, and then they all quit, so I suppose I won.”
