Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has provided a positive injury update after his side defeated Sevilla 2-1 in their UEFA Champions League clash on Tuesday night. The talented frontman was electric on the night, setting up Gabriel Martinelli's opener with some excellent footwork before providing a pinpoint through ball to his fellow Brazilian international.
Jesus then doubled the north Londoners' advantage in the second half, curling a right-footed finish into the far corner from the left side of the box. But the 26-year-old limped off the pitch late on, appearing to hold his hamstring after pulling a muscle.
After the full-time whistle, the former Manchester City star spoke about his issue, claiming that it didn't seem like anything serious upon first inspection. «I felt something,» he told TNT Sports.
«Let’s see. I did some tests with the physio, it looks not that big, but let’s see. I have a scan, maybe tomorrow. I’m pretty sure it will be nothing.»
Jesus' comments are positive news for Gunners boss Mikel Arteta, who was full of praise for the tricky centre-forward after the game. «Big games are for big players,» the Spaniard said when asked about his striker's performance in Seville.
«He needed to produce those moments to win in a stadium like this. He’s done it for us in a really big way. Then, really sad because he felt something in his hamstring and I’m worried about that.»
