Garth Crooks labels Liverpool player ‘far too good’ after Nottingham Forest win
Garth Crooks has picked one Liverpool player in his team of the week after the Reds’ 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
The Reds opened the scoring through Diogo Jota, just after the half hour mark, as the forward tucked away the rebound from Darwin Nunez’s initial effort.
Jurgen Klopp’s side doubled their lead before the break when Nunez latched on to Dominik Szoboszlai’s pass to fire in from close-range. Mohamed Salah completed the scoreline in the 77th minute as he took advantage of Forest keeper Matt Turner’s blunder to slot the ball into an empty net.

On an emotional day at Anfield, given the kidnapping of Luis Diaz’s parents, Jota sent a message of support by holding up a no.7 shirt after his strike. Several Liverpool players produced eye-catching displays, with one in particular attracting Crooks’ attention.
Salah was involved in the build-up for the first two goals before getting in the scoresheet himself to take his tally to eight in 10 league games. With 14 goal contributions in 13 games across all competitions, the 31-year-old is primed for another stellar season in a Liverpool shirt.
“This was another super display by Salah,” Crooks told BBC Sport, when naming his team of the week. “He seemed to be involved in every phase of play and anything that seemed remotely meaningful against a Nottingham Forest side who actually showed some grit. Liverpool, or should I say Salah, were far too good.”
