Since his reported €40m move to AS Monaco in the summer, Folarin Balogun (22) is set to emulate the form that he showed at Stade de Reims last season.
Having scored 22 goals in 39 games for Will Still’s Reims side last season, the USMNT earned himself a big-money move to Monaco. Despite netting just minutes into his debut for the Principality club, the goals have not flowed and he has just five goals in 18 appearances last season.
Service has been an issue for the former Arsenal striker, as has the difference in play style, to which Balogun has had to adapt without a full pre-season. However, with Monaco set to face local rivals OGC Nice on Sunday, Jean-Clair Todibo (24) is not underestimating his opponent and has backed Balogun to bounce back.
“Folarin is a player with a really interesting profile, who makes superb runs in behind, who is good in duels, who is good with back to goal, and even better with face to goal. He eats up space and he can score a lot of goals. This season hasn’t been the best, but last year he was great with Reims, and he scored plenty of goals and he caused me lots of problems! He is a pain to play against. He was very sought after in the summer, maybe he needs time to adapt. Once he has adapted and when his time comes, he’ll do great things,” said Todibo, in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News.
