Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has told Erik ten Hag to sign an attacker of the same ilk as Tottenham forward Son Heung-min this summer.
Ten Hag is hoping to bolster his strike force ahead of next season with it being one of four areas he wishes to strengthen. A spend of more than £400million over the past two summers left the club hamstrung by Premier League finance rules in the January transfer window, with the manager admitting there was "no space" for midseason arrivals.
Anthony Martial, who is not expected back from injury before the end of March, is set to leave Old Trafford upon the end of his contract in June. It is unlikely that Sir Jim Ratcliffe will sanction another expensive striker signing given United splashed out £72m for Rasmus Hojlund last year, but a back-up could be acquired.

Other areas of the squad need more immediate attention, though, with a centre-back expected to be signed with Raphael Varane's future at the club uncertain. United Treble winner Yorke agrees that the defence needs another body, but has also indicated that the club ought to be bold in finding another attacker. United missed out on signing Harry Kane last summer as the England captain left Tottenham for Bayern Munich, but Yorke sees Kane's former Spurs team-mate Son as an ideal signing.
"I would sign a central defender for sure but I couldn’t name one right now," the former forward told the Manchester Evening News, via Gambling Zone. "I think we need a No.9, somebody up there with a little bit more Premier League experience and a good player like Son for me would be brilliant.
