Who is Amara Nallo? Liverpool starlet handed FA Cup chance months after West Ham transfer

Academy starlet Amara Nallo has been handed his first selection in a Liverpool matchday squad for the first team.

The Reds are facing Southampton in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Anfield on Wednesday night. After the draw which was completed before kick-off, Liverpool will face either Nottingham Forest or Manchester United away from home in the quarter-final should they beat the Saints.

Klopp opted to select several academy stars in his starting line-up to face Southampton, including Jarell Quansah, James McConnell, Bobby Clark and Lewis Koumas.

Jayden Danns, Trey Nyoni, Calum Scanlon and Kaide Gordon were also on the bench, as was Nallo. It is the first time that Nallo has been featured on the substitute's bench for Liverpool's first team.

So who is the latest player who could be handed a senior debut by Klopp?

Nallo is 17 years old and plays predominantly as a centre-back, and is still in his first year on Merseyside.

Liverpool signed Nallo from West Ham in September last year when he was 16 years old at the time. The teenager was joined by Nyoni who was signed by the Reds from Leicester City at the same time.

Nallo has been part of Marc Bridge-Wilkinson's Under-18s team at Liverpool this season and has made five appearances, including three in the FA Youth Cup. That number would have been higher, had it not been for the teenager impressing so much that he has been called up to the club's Under-21 squad.
