NO HUBS NO HOOBS can win the Tim Molony Memorial Handicap Chase (3.50pm) at Haydock Park on Saturday afternoon to provide a Randox Grand National boost for trainer Joe Tizzard.
Former jockey Tizzard, who took over training from his father Colin two years ago, will saddle his first-ever runner in the Grand National at Aintree Racecourse in two weeks with Eldorado Allen – one of just five current entrants in the top 34 of the race from a British stable. And he can get a boost with victory at fellow Merseyside track Haydock in the 3m1½f chase with No Hubs No Hoobs.
The eight-year-old is bidding for a hat-trick of victories following back-to-back successes at Wincanton last month and earlier this. Both those contests were over an extended 3m1f in testing conditions – similar to what he will experience at Haydock. He has only ever won over fences at Wincanton – three times in 12 starts – but he should enjoy Haydock and looks to have all the right attributes to complete his hat-trick. He is up to a career-high mark of 117 but he looks to have plenty more improvement in him after his latest success. No Hubs No Hoobs can score again ahead of chiefly Robert Walford’s Tip Top Mountain.

Mel Rowley’s MY BOBBY DAZZLER – another who enjoys testing conditions – can win the Challenger Stayers Hurdle Series Final Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race) (2.40pm). The nine-year-old has not won over hurdles since victory at Aintree in December 2021 – although he did score over the bigger obstacles last summer at Worcester. But he looks to be working his way back to top form and can return to another winner’s enclosure on Merseyside. He has been second twice at Cheltenham and Warwick in three runs
