And so Liverpool will be desperate to right the wrongs of both last term and the previous weekend, which saw their 19-match unbeaten run come to an end when Joel Matip turned into his own net in the final minute of a game which saw the Reds reduced to nine men - with a legitimate Luis Diaz goal wrongly ruled out due to an error from the VAR officials.
Klopp will have to do it the hard way against Brighton, though, because, unless Liverpool's appeal to overturn Curtis Jones' red card is successfully (and that feels unlikely considering it would be an admission of another major mistake by the PGMOL), they will have both he and Diogo Jota suspended for the fixture.
Add in Cody Gakpo's injury and Liverpool's options are starting to look slightly more depleted for what is shaping up to be a key fixture.
