Everton’s new striker Beto believes he and his new club can grow together following his summer arrival.
The 25-year-old has had an instant impact on Merseyside, helping to rescue the Blues from the brink of Carabao Cup catastrophe against League Two side Doncaster Rovers on his debut, then producing an impressive first Premier League outing at Sheffield United.
The Portuguese forward has enjoyed four good seasons in Serie A but thinks he is yet to reach his “prime”.
He hopes Everton can provide the environment for him to do that - and if he can reach double figures for goals, as he did repeatedly in Italy - his efforts will go a long way to pushing the club away from battles against relegation.

Beto wants that pressure on his shoulders. His opening interactions with Everton supporters have already been positive and he ended the draw at Bramall Lane by taking in their applause as he handed his shirt into the away end. He knows they are desperate for someone to help provide cover and competition and, maybe, a strike partner, for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and hopes he can be that saviour.
He told the club website: “The Everton fans are really amazing. They support us a lot, you can see that. They want to win, badly. I like this, I like this pressure that they provide because this is why we are here - to win, to do something good for Everton. It feels good, of course [to have love from the fans so soon], but, for me, I don’t want to be too comfortable and by that I mean I want to repay the love they are showing me with good performances, goals and assists.
