When looking for things to do or places to go, Liverpool is certainly up there with having something for everyone.
But for those wanting to go a little further afield, with a little taste of home, there's one island that is perfect.
Just 30 miles long by 10 miles wide, the Isle of Man is home to one of the "best beaches in the world", but also so much more including rolling hills, rugged cliffs, stunning views and even seals. And people have been visiting from Merseyside for years, with many even settling on the island.

I visited the small island recently and even though I've been before, it didn't fail to take my breath away again. Holding a special place in my partner's heart, I must admit I found myself falling in love with the place from the moment I landed.
We visited for the Manx Grand Prix, which was held just weeks after the annual TT motorcycle races, which attracted thousands of visitors from around the world. The event sees dozens of riders taking to the Snaefell Mountain Course, usually open public roads except on racing weeks, where they race for just over 37 miles.
The racing events, dating back to the early 1900s, have become an integral part of the island - perfect for motorbike fanatics. My partner and his brother absolutely love it, so of course I jumped at the chance to go again.
We got the ferry from Liverpool, taking just over two hours to get there and thankfully it was a smooth crossing. In between practice races, there was plenty to do, from Douglas with its golden sands and array of restaurants to Ramsey with the sixth largest pier in the British Isles.
