Fresh from Merseyside derby success, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool are back in action at Anfield on Thursday when French side Tolouse visit in the Europa League.
The Ligue 1 outfit are arguably the strongest of the opposition in the Reds' European group but they are in great form on the continent at Anfield having gone close to 18 months without defeat on home soil, dating back to March 2022 when Inter won 1-0 but lost 2-1 on aggregate.
Ahead of the visit from Tolouse, Klopp spoke to the media about a handful of topics that included Andy Robertson's shoulder injury, the fitness of Cody Gakpo and the need to make sure the French side did not enjoy their visit to Merseyside too much on the night. On the impressive form of Darwin Nunez this season: "He is just in a really good moment. Darwin, yes, there was [some time needed] necessary to adapt to a new country, new language, new team, all of these kinds of things. All of that is long gone. He is in the middle of the team and everyone is really happy with him, I am very happy with him.
"We had to make a decision before the game of who out of the two would start. Lucho or Darwin? Darwin had some cramp at the end of the international game so we thought OK, we start Lucho. I spoke to both and they both accepted it. Lucho's job was to create, prepare and do what he could to cause as much trouble as possible. Darwin comes on and kills the game off, that was the idea and it worked really well.
