Liverpool set for £100m boost after Anfield Road update given
On Friday, Liverpool announced the latest landmark in the Anfield Road redevelopment project. The £80m project to increase the capacity of the Reds’ home stadium by 7,000 seats, taking it to 61,000, has been hit with significant issues in recent months after the collapse of the Buckingham Group, the construction company that had previously been engaged to deliver the development.

Work had to stop until the situation reached a resolution, with the firm eventually collapsing into administration, its stadium division one of those not to find a buyer by the deadline. That meant that the Reds had to move quickly to bring on board a new construction company, with the club engaging Preston-based Rayner Rowen to complete the remainder.
Having had time to assess the work required to be undertaken, a decision was made, and communicated to fans by Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan, to keep the upper tier closed until at least the end of the calendar year to allow ample time for completion, inspection and the required safety certificates to be obtained.
