Kyle Walker says Trent Alexander-Arnold is perfect for Liverpool's "direct" style of play under Jurgen Klopp as he heaped praise on his England team-mate.
Alexander-Arnold is currently sidelined with a knee injury, but is targeting a return to action for Liverpool's trip to Manchester United in the Premier League on April 7. The Reds vice-captain has been forced to miss out on the England squad for the current international break, where Walker picked up a hamstring injury against Brazil on Saturday.
It remains to be seen how long the veteran right-back will be out for, but he will be desperate to return for City's huge clash at home to Arsenal this Sunday as the Premier League title race heats up.
City go into that clash third in the table a point behind the Gunners and Liverpool, who will go top of the table before that Sunday afternoon meeting if they avoid defeat at home to Brighton a couple of hours earlier, although they will feel that only a win will do.
Speaking about Alexander-Arnold and Liverpool's qualities on Rio Ferdinand's Vibe with Five podcast, Walker said: "Trent is a quarterback at right-back. I've never seen anyone pass the ball like it. Left, right foot, snow on it when it needs to have snow on it, or ping straight to the chest.
"The way Liverpool play where it's very transitional, German manager, it's a process to get up to the goal [for us], but Liverpool are very direct with their football.
"I'm not saying it's a long ball team. But when you've got Salah on the right-hand side and you're whipping that ball down his right-hand side, that's what Trent's very, very good at.
