La Liga president Javier Tebas has strongly criticised the new European Super League proposals, blaming two individuals in particular. He pointed out Real Madrid boss Florentino Perez as 'the man behind' the 'disastrous' plans and likened A22 chief Bernd Reichart to magician David Copperfield.
The European Court of Justice ruled in December that UEFA and FIFA were wrong to block plans for the breakaway league, which initially included Liverpool among its founding members before a humiliating backpedal forced a rethink.
A22, the company behind the Super League, promptly proposed a new format featuring 64 top European teams divided into Star, Gold and Blue divisions, with matches streamed for free.
However, Tebas is not pleased. "We have to be very clear - the man behind this is the president of Real Madrid," he said at the Financial Times Business of Football Summit in London.

"With this new model - and the one in 2021 was a disaster - A22 want a few clubs, with the most assets, the richest clubs - to dominate the European football eco-system."
"This model is even worse than the 2019 model. We said "no" to that and we say "no" to this one.
"It attacks the domestic leagues and the clubs would only get access to the third division, not the first division. The Star and the Gold leagues, even with bad results, you will always be in this competition."
