Latest Chelsea injury news as nine set to miss Newcastle amid Malo Gusto and Levi Colwill updates
Public Enemy Number One has been spotted back at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea head into yet another international break in this early part of the season. If there was one thing that manager Mauricio Pochettino could do without right now, it'd be the thing that has been plaguing his short tenure with the Blues so far — injuries.
Unfortunately, he's been slapped down with two new ones straight out of the gate. Defender Levi Colwill, who was a surprise omission to many for the Manchester City clash over the weekend, was said to be suffering from a shoulder issue which not only kept him out of the starting XI but off the bench entirely for the 4-4 draw.
Despite that, he was one of 25 players selected by England manager Gareth Southgate and his staff to represent his country over the international break against Malta on November 17 and North Macedonia on November 20. However, reports surfaced this morning that he was set to withdraw from the Three Lions camp alongside Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham and return to Cobham where he'll be recovering over the next two weeks and was eventually confirmed in a statement released by England.
The statement read: «Jude Bellingham and Levi Colwill will play no part in England’s forthcoming UEFA EURO 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.
»The pair arrived at St. George’s Park for assessments on Monday but will now return to Real Madrid and Chelsea respectively to continue their rehabilitation."
