Tottenham could have up to 11 players unavailable for their FA Cup third round tie with Burnley on Friday.
Spurs signed off for 2023 with an impressive 3-1 win over Bournemouth, given the Cherries’ recent form. Goals from Pape Matar Sarr, Son Heung-min and Richarlison sealed the victory for Ange Postecoglou’s side, who moved within a point of rivals Arsenal in fourth spot.
However, the club were, once again, confronted with injury woes against Bournemouth. Pape Matar Sarr was emotional as he left the pitch with a hamstring issue, while Spurs were forced to finish the game with ten men after Alejo Veliz went down, late on, when the team had used all of their available substitutions.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Postecoglou confirmed that Veliz faces a spell on the sidelines, though will not require surgery. «Unfortunately Alejo [Veliz] was a fairly significant injury,” the Spurs boss explained. “He had scans and it will keep him out for a couple of months.”
Postecoglou gave a more positive update on Sarr’s fitness but he will continue to be unavailable for Tottenham as he has left to join up with the Senegal squad for the Africa Cup of Nations. Mali’s Yves Bissouma will also be at the tournament hosted by Ivory Coast, while Spurs are likely to be without talismanic captain Son Heung-min for around a month as South Korea compete in the Asia Cup.
