Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez will miss at least the next two league games after confirming a muscle strain in the adductor muscles of his left thigh.
The Inter striker had to be replaced on Wednesday in the Coppa Italia match against Bologna, from which he limped off in a 2-1 defeat that saw the Milan side eliminated from the competition.
Martinez underwent tests at Milan's Istituto Clinico Humanitas di Rozzano and his condition will be "re-examined in the coming days", Inter said in a statement.
The injury will rule him out of the last two games of 2023: Saturday's meeting against Lecce and next Friday 29 December away to Genoa.
He is expected to be available to coach Simone Inzaghi for the match against Hellas Verona on 6th January 2024, although the date of his return to training has not been announced.
