Takehiro Tomiyasu has been linked with a possible departure from Arsenal in January, with speculation of a possible swap deal with Inter Milan including Nicolo Barella.
However, nothing could be further from the truth. The Japanese full-back is considered by the board to be an essential player in their future plans and they are in advanced stages of negotiations to renew the player.
Tomiyasu, whose contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in 2025, will sign a new long-term deal that would also include a pay rise, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Japan international has made 20 official appearances so far this season for the Gunners, 10 of them starts, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has already praised the 25-year-old several times, claiming that his defending is "one of the best" he has ever seen and that his squad has no other player like him.
