Liverpool Comic Con fans say 'best ever' as major star announced for 2024

Liverpool Comic Con fans have been sharing their excitement at the latest guest star announcement.

The convention takes in Liverpool's Exhibition Centre on May 4 - 5. The annual gathering sees prominent names from film, animation, television, comics and more come together to meet fans, speak at panels and sometimes share exclusive announcements.

Actor and director Kevin Smith is the most recent addition to the guest line-up.

The star came to prominence with the low-budget comedy buddy film Clerks, which he wrote, directed, co-produced, and starred in as Silent Bob, one half of stoner pair Jay, played by Jason Mews, and Silent Bob. The characters went on to appear in Smith's later films Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and Clerks III.

The star's announcement was greeted with excitement online, with one fan commenting on the official Liverpool Comic Con Instagram page saying: "Best f****** comic con ever."

On Facebook, another fan said: "Holy bleep, what an announcement. The king of all things geeky, if you can get him to do a panel that would be super awesome," while another fan declared: "Omg please bring Jay as well for a duo !!!!! This is amazing."

Kevin joins the likes of Marvel star Elizabeth Olsen, Supernatural's Jared Padalecki, Sons of Anarchy and Futurama star Katey Sagal, and Lord of the Ring's actors Elijah Wood, Dominic Monaghan and Bernard Hill.
