Xabi Alonso has not held talks with Bayern Munich, despite contrary speculation, with a new report adding that Liverpool have made contact with his representatives.
Speculation this week claimed that the Bayer Leverkusen manager and Liverpool Champions League winner had held discussions with the Bundesliga champions, sparking fears that the Reds were behind in the race to hire him. However, BILD says that Bayern sources have indicated that no talks of any sort have taken place and that Leverkusen are 'very irritated' by the latest reports.
It adds that Alonso is yet to make a decision about his future and has certainly not indicated he would prefer a switch to Bayern over Liverpool. Leverkusen want compensation from either club should he exit.

The report claims Liverpool have touched base with the agent of Alonso, Inaki Ibanez, who passed the news straight on to the Leverkusen hierarchy. The Reds and Bayern are awaiting the 42-year-old’s next move and whether negotiations can commence.
Back in November, Leverkusen managing director Fernando Carro clarified that there is no release clause in Alonso’s contract. However, BILD says that a separate gentlemen’s agreement took place during his contract extension in August.
This pledge apparently outlined that Leverkusen will allow the manager to speak to a European giant, as long as the club receives ample compensation. It states Bayern would be charged more, possibly around £20m, due to them being a direct league rival, although this is unlikely to put them off.
