Xabi Alonso makes choice between Bayern Munich & Liverpool - report

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is expected to favour a move to Bayern Munich if he chooses to leave his current side this summer, a report has claimed.

Alonso has enjoyed a stellar season with Bayer which has left them on the cusp of winning the Bundesliga, and his exploits have unsurprisingly attracted interest from a number of European giants, many of whom are looking for new managers ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Among the leading suitors for Alonso's signature are Bayern and Liverpool, both former employers of the Spaniard during his playing days, but Sky Germany's believes Alonso will look to join Bayern if he opts to leave his current post this summer.

While Alonso's departure from Bayer is currently far from guaranteed, it is said that the midfielder would choose to join Bayern over Liverpool if he does opt to change clubs in the coming months.

Formal negotiations are yet to be held but Bayern officials believe Alonso has made his mind up and would favour a move to Munich.

Alonso's contract with Bayer runs until 2026 but club captain Lukas Hradecky recently admitted nobody in the dressing room would blame the boss if he chooses to take the next step in his career this summer.

«That's our wish and dream, for him to stay, but no-one would be angry or argue if he wins the Bundesliga and decides to go another route,» Hradecky said.
