Liverpool suffer another major injury blow amid title race with Arsenal and Man City
Ibrahima Konate has handed Liverpool yet another major injury worry ahead in the Premier League title race with Arsenal and Manchester City. Liverpool take on City on Sunday in a huge clash at Anfield.
Konate was forced off in the second half of Liverpool's Europa League match against Sparta Prague on Thursday evening after pulling up. It looked as if the France international suffered a hamstring issue while attempting to keep Sparta at bay after Liverpool had eased into a 3-0 lead in the first half.
The defender was treated for a few minutes before he could walking off the pitch unaided, while he did not seem to be overly limping. Konate was replaced by Virgil van Dijk, who joined Jarell Quansah in the centre-back position after Joe Gomez had been substituted for Conor Bradley at half-time.
Now, there are doubts about whether Konate will be able to play in the match against City. Liverpool are currently one point ahead of the reigning champions in the Premier League table as we head into this weekend's games, reports the Liverpool Echo.
But both sides could be behind Arsenal in the table by the time they kick-off at 3:45pm on Sunday. Arsenal will go top if they take all three points against Brentford on Saturday.
Liverpool will also be missing Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic and Ben Doak for City match, while Mohamed Salah has only just got back to fitness this week.
