Liverpool are set to hold talks with Mo Salah over the coming weeks as they attempt to extend his stay at Anfield. The Egyptian has just 18 months left on his current contract amid rumours of a move to Saudi Arabia.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool’s plan was to address Salah’s deal in the new year and did not want to open discussions in 2023. However, talks are not expected to be straightforward, especially with the forward focusing on his Africa Cup of Nations commitments with Egypt.
Away from Salah, Liverpool are also anticipated to launch talks with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. The pair also see their deals expire in the summer of 2025.
While Salah’s future has yet to be decided, Liverpool remain candidates to sign Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman is a long-term target for the Reds and he would be available on a free transfer this summer.
Real Madrid are in the driving seat but it has been suggested that Liverpool might have not admitted defeat just yet. According to French outlet L’Equipe, the Reds have never broken contact with Mbappe’s representatives regarding a switch to Anfield.
