ANFIELD, LIVERPOOL — Liverpool have enjoyed a strong start to the new Premier League season, winning four and drawing one of their opening five fixtures.
However, they come into this game contending with the dreaded Thursday-Sunday schedule that has proved tricky to navigate for so many teams participating in the Europa League in recent years.
Fortunately, the effects of that quick turnaround could well be mitigated by the fact that the Reds' opponents, West Ham, are themselves in Europe's second tier competition this season.
But they arrive at Anfield having picked up an impressive 10 points from their opening five games and full of confidence after another win on Thursday.
A first test of how Liverpool cope with that Thursday-Sunday schedule this season. Although they’re probably helped in this instance by the fact that West Ham are contending with the same issue. @sn_footballclub pic.twitter.com/GLpRKqDSFa
