Man City star Phil Foden fires three-word message amid Liverpool injury concern

Manchester City star Phil Foden has broken his silence amid concerns over his fitness following the 3-1 Premier League win over Manchester United on Sunday.

The Stockport-born netted his 17th and 18th goals of the 2023/24 season in the Manchester derby win. After Marcus Rashford put the Reds ahead, Foden struck twice in the second-half to maintain City's hopes of retaining the league title.

His first came 11 minutes after the restart as he struck beyond Andre Onana. The 23-year-old put City ahead for the first time with ten minutes to go as he slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

Foden's impressive form comes at a perfect time for the Citizens with them travelling to Anfield next week for a title showdown. However, there are minor concerns over his fitness after he told a reporter that he suffered a "dead leg".

There was no mention of an apparent injury from Guardiola and Foden showed no signs of a problem. City will be hoping the knock will have vanished before the trip to Merseyside.

Foden has since taken to social media to celebrate the win over their city rivals. Writing on Instagram, he said: "Derby day delight! *fist emoji* *blue love heart emoji*."

Since the turn of the year, Foden has contributed to seven Premier League goals - including a hat-trick in the 3-1 win over Brentford. After scoring the winner at AFC Bournemouth, Foden's double against United has strengthened his shout to be one of England's starters in the European Championships.
