The final week of the transfer window is upon us, and still there is work to be done for Chelsea. Already the Blues have completed in excess of 40 moves in and out of the club, but will hope to see more before the window shuts on Friday.
The west London side still have players who have no future in Mauricio Pochettino's team this season, and have not been part of the first team squad all summer in Romelu Lukaku, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Malang Sarr. Their departures will be seen as key to completing a successful overhaul over recent months.
Incoming transfers will have the opportunity to prove their value over the course of time, and Chelsea have now checked off their priorities that were in place at the start of the window. Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic have arrived as goalkeepers, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia fulfilled the Blues' midfield desires, while Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku were signed to solve Chelsea's problems in front of goal.
There is still an intention for the Blues to land a further player, with a versatile attacking option on the cards, should the desired profile be available. The likes of Brennan Johnson, Bradley Barcola and Rayan Cherki have all been of interest.
However, Chelsea have also found plenty of success in trimming down their numbers. Chelsea's hierarchy were efficient at completing a number of transfers early in the window that saw Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic among others leave early in the window. Action was both fast and decisive.
