Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino revealed he will be holding a transfer meeting on Sunday with the club over possible January targets. The club are yet to make any big moves to bolster the options available to the head coach in the first week of the market, as they look to end the season strong.
The Blues currently sit in mid-table after a sluggish start to life under the former Tottenham boss, with challenges coming around every corner. The squad has been hit with injuries around every corner, while Pochettino has to bring through promising young players to get results.
While their financial muscle has already been flexed to the tune of roughly £1billion under the ownership of BlueCo, they could still do so again. Plenty of transfer links appear to be cropping up which could strengthen the squad for the manager in the second half of the campaign, with a meeting taking place on Sunday.
He told reporters after the victory over Preston in the FA Cup on Saturday: «To be honest we didn't talk about names. At the moment we are not talking about bringing players. I saw Behdad [Eghbali] here in the manager's room with Paul [Winstanley] and Laurence „[Stewart].
“I think tomorrow [Sunday, January 7] we are going to have a chat because we will be in the training ground. We didn't talk about names or talk about position, we didn't talk to bring players. For now, we are focusing on players like Andrey Santos to see what we are going to do.»
