Mauricio Pochettino got it wrong in Chelsea's defeat to Manchester United on Wednesday evening. However, he is not the overall problem at the football club.
The Blues were beaten 2-1 at the hands of an out-of-sorts Man United side. But in truth, the hosts could have had five-plus goals at Old Trafford. Chelsea were saved by a brilliant shot-stopping performance from Robert Sanchez.
Pochettino saw his side just edge Brighton on Sunday afternoon while Man United played just less than 24 hours before against Newcastle United. The Chelsea head coach believes the lack of energy his players had was a determining factor in the game in Manchester on Wednesday.
«Disappointed because we didn't start the game well and the feeling is they start better than us, more energy than us, we didn't match their energy,» Pochettino said
«I think they were better. If we talk about overall, I think they were better than us. Nothing to say. I think we create chances enough, we draw the first half 1-1, we had some good chances that we should score and be more clinical, that was the problem.
»Second-half we start well but then we concede and of course then we miss the energy to be more aggressive. We had some chances but not enough to be in the game again. Overall, I think my feeling is that they were better than us and deserve the three points."
