Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed that PGMOL chief Howard Webb has issued an apology to Nottingham Forest after Willy Boly's controversial sending off against Bournemouth on Saturday.
It was the Portuguese manager's first game in charge of the club, after he took over from Steve Cooper, but it was not the start he would have wanted with Forest losing 3-2 at home to Andoni Iraola's side at the City Ground.
To make matters worse, the home side went down to ten men with Boly being sent off in the 23rd minute, after sliding in to win the ball, before catching Bournemouth's Adam Smith in his follow through.
Referee Robert Jones opted to award the centre-back a second yellow card for the challenge, a decision that Espirito Santo slammed after the match, with Forest also reportedly issuing a request to the PGMOL to suspend the official after the game.
'Let's not speak about that,' Espirito Santo said to Amazon Prime Sport on the sending off, ahead of Forest's Boxing Day clash against Newcastle. 'It was tough, a bad decision.
'Where the referee is he has a clear view of the situation he shouldn't have gone immediately with the red card.
'I've seen it many times and I can't understand the decision.'
According to The Telegraph, Webb had been in contact with the football club to admit that Jones made a serious and obvious error in sending Boly off during the match.
Forest have also demanded to hear the conversation between Jones and the VAR official for the match.
Despite that, when asked by Amazon Prime Sport whether he had spoken to Webb, Espirito Santo said: 'I got a message (from Howard Webb saying sorry) and we accept it and we move forward.'
Espirito Santo was also asked whether it would be fair for the PGMOL to admit their mistake
