Paul Scholes fires X-rated message as he fumes at what Manchester United did vs Wigan

Paul Scholes was left furious by Manchester United's corners in their FA Cup third round tie against Wigan Athletic as Erik ten Hag's men came away from the game with a 2-0 win. The Reds controlled most of the match and recorded a staggering 33 shots on Monday night, reacting well to conceding an early chance that was well saved by Andre Onana.

Once Diogo Dalot put the away side ahead there was little doubt about the result, with Bruno Fernandes adding a second after half-time to seal his side's passage through to fourth round. Ten Hag can now start planning for a meeting with Newport County or Eastleigh.

However, despite the dominant performance that could have shown a lot more on the scoresheet but for some glaring misses from Rasmus Hojlund and impressive goalkeeping from Sam Tickle, Scholes was left frustrated by a certain element of the game. Taking to Instagram during the match, he posted the simple message: "Short corners are s***."

United racked up an impressive 12 corners during the game but failed to make them count. For Ten Hag, things could and should have been much better. "Oh definitely [United should have scored more]," he told ITV. "It would have been great to get more.

"In the first half we had five or six good chances. We played good football and could have had more with that, but if you don’t score you have to stay focused and I think that is also what we did."

Hojlund was once again on the end of some of these chances, nearly scoring with a close-range header as well as failing to convert a ball flashing across the goal in the
