Premier League referees Darren England and Dan Cook have been stood down for another round of fixtures amid the fallout from Tottenham's 2-1 win over Liverpool.
The decision comes after Luis Diaz had his opener at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium wrongly disallowed for offside and Curtis Jones was sent off. PGMOL has been heavily criticised in the aftermath of the game, with reports insisting that audio from Diaz's disallowed goal be released to the public after a formal request was made by Liverpool.
Now, VAR officials England and Cook, who were originally replaced for two games, will now miss another round of fixtures. However, Simon Hooper, the on-field referee in Spurs' win, will be the VAR official for Everton's game with Bournemouth on Saturday.
The pair were dropped from their appointments to Nottingham Forest vs Brentford on Sunday and Chelsea's 2-0 win at Fulham as a result of their error — a game that Hooper was fourth official for. England was due to referee Leicester City's Championship clash with Preston North End on Wednesday evening, but he has now been replaced by Thomas Bramall.
The decision comes after PGMOL confirmed they have committed to a full review following Saturday's disaster. A statement released on Saturday evening accepted that the decision to disallow Diaz's goal was incorrect.
