PGMOL have made the choice to take Darren England off Liverpool matches after his error lead to Luis Diaz's goal against Tottenham being disallowed, reports suggest. England was the VAR assistant at Stockley Park for the game and failed to correctly overturn the offside call alongside assistant VAR Dan Cook.
England was the man that issued the now infamous 'check complete' call following a quick review of Diaz's goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night. Between himself, match referee Simon Hooper, Cook and fourth official Michael Oliver, the team were unable to reach the correct outcome after play restarted swiftly following the VAR decision.
The audio from between the referees was released on Tuesday night and reflected a sorry state of affairs for PGMOL as England wrongly believed the on-field call had been onside, resulting in his confusing call. Now, after Jurgen Klopp lead a growing crowd of people calling for the match to be replayed in the face of the mistake, England is unlikely to be put on Liverpool games again.
The Telegraph report that as well as being taken off duty for any fixtures this weekend, England and Cook are now not expected to be in position as matchday official or on VAR for games involving the Reds. Both officials are still set to keep their jobs, it is said, with new chief refereeing officer Howard Webb retaining his trust in the pair.
