Two-goal Andy Ryan declared a half-time team talk from Larne boss Tiernan Lynch wasn’t required because the players took responsibility for a poor first-half showing against Crusaders at Seaview on Friday night.
It took them all of 60 seconds to put it right as they proceeded to produce a ruthless second-half showing, suggesting the title holders have no intentions of relinquishing their grip on the Gibson Cup.
Ryan struck the opener seconds after the restart, heading home from close range, before his strike partner Lee Bonis powered in the second with the flick of his head.
The 29-year-old Scot then bagged his second, rolling home a spot-kick after Tomas Cosgrove was impeded by Jarlath O’Rourke inside the box.
Soon later, their task became that little bit easier when Crusaders skipper Billy Joe Burns was sent off after a crude challenge on Larne midfielder Jaziel Orozco.
Ryan insisted manager Lynch didn’t need to say much during half-time.
“We were not at the races in the first-half, so we knew what to expect at the break but, even before he spoke to us, we had a word between ourselves because, as a group, we knew it wasn’t good enough,” admitted Ryan.
