Tottenham player ratings vs Man United - Bentancur sharper as Werner and Dragusin make debuts
Tottenham drew 2-2 with Manchester United in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Ange Postecoglou was able to call upon new signings Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin, the German going straight into the team and the Romanian centre-back on the bench. He also had a defence with actual centre-backs in it with Micky van de Ven and vice captain Cristian Romero fit and available again.
However, it wouldn't be a Spurs match without more unavailable players. Postecoglou lost Dejan Kulusevski to an illness that had worked its way around the squad. Ryan Sessegnon also missed out while Ben Davies, Giovani Lo Celso and Dane Scarlett are all now out injured. It means Tottenham could only name a bench with eight players on it, including two goalkeepers and three young academy players.
United swept into the lead just a couple of minutes into the game. The reunited Spurs defence all got themselves stuck in a bunch in the middle after Destiny Udogie tackled Marcus Rashford in the box and Rasmus Hojlund found space to send a rocket into the top left corner.
Spurs were level before the 20 minute mark, Richarlison rising highest to head home a Pedro Porro corner. Then after a spell of good Tottenham play Udogie then sent a header against his own post before Marcus Rashford struck a second goal for United with a low shot. In added time at the end of the half, Romero sent a header against the hosts' crossbar.
Tottenham equalised again with a lovely goal within a minute or so of the second half starting. Oliver Skipp played Werner in down the left and he picked out Rodrigo Bentancur to run in and take a touch before firing a powerful shot past Onana.
