Giovani Lo Celso played a starring role for Tottenham in the second half as he scored in their 3-2 defeat against West Ham at Optus Stadium in Perth
The Ange Postecoglou era may have started with a defeat but the new Tottenham boss can take many positives from their 3-2 loss against West Ham. Playing some excellent football at times and registering 32 shots on goal across the 90 minutes, Spurs had more than enough opportunities to win the game.
Just not hitting the heights in his four seasons at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with injury playing a big part in his woes, Lo Celso's second-half performance was a reminder of just why he was brought to the club in the summer of 2019 after excelling for Real Betis. Operating on the left of Tottenham's midfield three, the Argentine was involved in all of Spurs' best play and always looked to make things happen in the final third.
The boss was very pleased with the play between his two players and TV cameras did spot him clapping the duo for creating the chance. Richarlison would later return the favour for Lo Celso but the ball wouldn't come down for the midfielder to get his shot away in the box, thus resulting in him playing in the former Everton man who saw his shot deflected wide for a corner.
When the chance did arrive for Lo Celso to get a shot on goal, he made no mistake at all, lashing home Davinson Sanchez's flick from Ivan Perisic's cross. Now with the first goal of the Postecoglou era in the bag, it spurred the team on to get another as Destiny Udogie headed home an equaliser but it was Gianluca Scamacca who was to have the last laugh.
The football on offer from Spurs was a joy to watch at times and Postecoglou did dish out the praise to his players after very limited time
