Tottenham and Leicester City were due to kick off at 11am at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok but heavy rain ahead of the game saw the match cancelled
Tottenham's pre-season friendly against Leicester City in Bangkok has been cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.
With the Spurs team putting in the work on the pitch ahead of the match, head coach Ange Postecoglou entered the field of play 15 minutes ahead of the 11am (5pm local time) scheduled kick-off time to take a look at the playing surface.
Ground staff did try to clear water off the pitch and repaint the lines but it was all in vain as the match officials decided at 11:40am that it was unplayable.
A club statement from Tottenham read: "Tonight’s friendly against Leicester City has been cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch and adverse weather conditions. The event organisers, based on a recommendation from the match officials, deemed the pitch at the Rajamangala National Stadium unplayable and unsafe following heavy rainfall in Bangkok."
Tottenham's next friendly comes on Wednesday afternoon with a clash against Lion City Sailors in Singapore on the agenda. Spurs started their pre-season campaign with a 3-2 defeat at the hands of West Ham in Perth.
