Ball boys and girls in the Premier League will no longer be allowed to throw the ball back to players for corners amid concerns that home teams could be gaining an unfair advantage.
The rule change, if enforced in the Champions League, would have prevented then-ball boy Oakley Cannonier from helping Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold take his quick corner kick against Barcelona at Anfield in 2019. The full-back assisted Divok Origi's famous goal thanks to the quick thinking of Cannonier from a corner.
Origi's goal will go down as one of Liverpool's most important moments, as the Reds overturned a 3-0 deficit from the first leg to win 4-3 on aggregate and reach the final. Jurgen Klopp's side would then go on to beat Tottenham Hotspur in the final 2-0.

But the Premier League have now stopped what brought one of the most famous goals of the Klopp era. Previously, the young helpers could throw balls back to players, allowing teams playing at home to restart play quicker than the visiting team when needed.
The Premier League started using a multi-ball system in 2022 to prevent teams from wasting time, but there are growing concerns over an unfair advantage being gained.
