PSG centre-back El Chadaille Bitshiabu (18) is set to leave the French capital to sign for RB Leipzig, according to a report from L’Équipe. The Red Bull-owned outfit, who will play next season’s Champions League group stage courtesy of their third-place finish in the Bundesliga, is looking to revamp their defense with Croatian centre-back Joško Gvardiol reportedly heading to Manchester City. The PSG youth product is said to have taken a tour of RB Leipzig’s facilities last month to discuss a potential move.
PSG reportedly wanted to extend Bitshiabu’s contract – as he was entering the final year of his current deal – before loaning him out abroad to gain playing time. However, Les Parisiens have resigned themselves to parting ways with their defender in exchange of a transfer fee worth between €15 and €20m, depending on bonuses. Despite his young age, Bitshiabu logged 17 appearances with PSG last season. However, newly-appointed PSG coach Luis Enrique is expected to rely on new recruits Milan Škriniar and Lucas Hernandez, along with long-serving centre-backs Presnel Kimpembe and Marquinhos, to shape Les Parisiens’ defence.
