RB Leipzig have completed a move for PSG centre-back El Chadaille Bitshiabu, according to RMC Sport. The 18-year-old is set to join the DFB Pokal winners for a fee in the region of €15m plus bonuses. The Frenchman will sign a 5-year deal at the Red Bull Arena. Soon-to-be new PSG teammate Xavi Simons is also expected to join him in East Germany on a season-long loan.
Leipzig had targeted Bitshiabu’s countryman Castello Lukeba as a left-footed centre-back, but OL have turned down offers and are reluctant to sell their academy product. This is due to fears of not being able to replace him under DNCG transfer restrictions. The French U19 international now appears to be the left-footed centre-back that Leipzig have decided upon. A left-sided central defender has been a key position for Leipzig to target, due to ongoing negotiations with Manchester City for Joško Gvardiol.
The PSG defender’s contract at the Parc des Princes was set to expire in 2024. Bitshiabu made 16 appearances for the French champions last season. Les Parisiens have already strengthened in the centre-back position this summer with the arrival of Milan Skriniar on a free transfer from Inter.
