With Kylian Mbappé’s (25) departure from Paris Saint-Germain looming, the French side could be set to spend considerably come the end of the season. A world-class striker is reportedly targeted by Les Parisiens and according to The Independent, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen (25) is a major target.
It has become common knowledge that the Nigerian will leave Napoli at the end of the season and given his €110m release clause, he represents a good value striker, given his exploits with the Serie A side in recent seasons. Many of the top sides are circling. Arsenal and Chelsea remain interested in the Nigerian forward, however, according to The Independent, it is Manchester United and PSG who are leading the race.
Whilst PSG are turning towards an approach centred on exploiting the talented Île-de-France talent pool, a marquee signing such as Osimhen could come in to replace Mbappé, whose loss will be significant, not just to PSG, but to Ligue 1 more generally. It remains to be seen whether former Lille OSC forward Osimhen can be tempted to return to France.
