Before he left AEW, the billionaire owner of Fulham's son was called a «clown» by WWE legend CM Punk. Tony Khan quit minutes before stepping into a match at a jam-packed Wembley Stadium.
The wrestling superstar, who returned to WWE last November after nine years away, spilled the beans about his tumultuous exit from Khan's company on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.
Tony is the son of Shahid Khan, the billionaire owner of NFL team Jacksonville Jaguars and Premier League club Fulham. In 2019, he became the boss of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), which has quickly grown into the world's second-largest wrestling organisation.
Punk, 45, joined AEW in 2021 after spending seven years away from the sport and held the world champion belt twice, but things got tricky with some wrestlers and everything came to a head at Wembley last August during the company's pay-per-view event All In.
Just before his match with Samoa Joe, Punk had some words with fellow wrestler Jack Perry which escalated, leading him to leave the company.
He told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour: «Jack came back from his match, I was the next match, and I've got people with me. I'm not going to say who they are, because I've got a lot of friends that work there and I don't want them to be punished for being friends with me.
