Sir Jim Ratcliffe has admitted that there are 'many aspects' of Manchester United that he and INEOS will need to get right, insisting it will be a 'long road'.
Ratcliffe's £1.3billion minority takeover of the club has seen him, along with Sir Dave Brailsford, take control of football operations at Old Trafford, with the structural organisation of the club a key topic on their agenda.
One of their first tasks was bringing in Omar Berrada from local rivals Manchester City to be their new chief executive.
Speaking to Geraint Thomas on his Cycling Club podcast, Ratcliffe went into detail over the magnitude of the task he has in front of him, as he opened up on INEOS' plans with the club.
He said: 'It's not a light switch, it's a much longer road to travel because there are so many aspects of that club and game you need to get right.'
Ratcliffe added that it would be a 'big part' of Sir Dave Brailsford's job to get the right people in the right place at Old Trafford.
He said: 'It's where you start when you think about it, you need the right organisational structure because football clubs, in the old days of Sir Alex Ferguson, he was the manager.
'We don't have managers today, we have a coach who will usually report to the sporting director and they would report to a chief executive.
'So you need to get the where you put recruitment, strategy all that type of stuff - you need to get that organisation right and populate it with the people who are best in class.'
Ratcliffe added that Brailsford was a 'detailed' man who knows a lot about football from his coaching days, albeit, in a different sport.
