Arsenal will have to regroup ahead of their crucial Champions League quarter-final second leg against Bayern Munich on Wednesday after falling to a damaging 2-0 Premier League loss to Aston Villa on Sunday. The Gunners saw their title chances dealt a major blow at the Emirates Stadium after failing to capitalise on Liverpool also being defeated earlier in the day.
The result has left Manchester City two points clear at the top of the table with six games left but is far from the end for Mikel Arteta's side. The reigning champions still have to take on Tottenham as well as Wolves — although Arsenal face the same opponents before the climax — and more twists are still possible.
Their attention now turns to extending their stay in Europe. Bayern Munich have been bruised by seeing their decade-long Bundesliga dominance finally end at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen with the title being wrapped up over the weekend. Thomas Tuchel's men got a serious injury worry during their routine 2-0 victory over Koln.
Tuchel rotated his team ahead of the visit of Arsenal but still lost winger Kingsley Coman. He will not be available for the game at the Allianz Arena.
Here, though, is the latest from the Arsenal treatment room ahead of the gamewith two late scares for Arteta to contend with.
The Arsenal captain was unable to complete the full game against Villa and was taken off with 10 minutes to go. Emile Smith Rowe replaced Odegaard despite his side looking to try and find a winner at the time.
