Paul Scholes was not impressed with Manchester United's latest victory over Luton and claimed his former side were 'hammered' despite winning a fourth consecutive Premier League fixture.
United moved to within three points of fourth-placed Tottenham as two goals from Rasmus Hojlund separated the sides at Kenilworth Road on Sunday.
Erik ten Hag's squad took an early commanding lead as they scored twice in the opening seven minutes of the encounter before Luton started to create chances of their own.
Carlton Morris reduced the deficit with a 14th minute strike and further attacks carved United's defence open as they struggled to hold onto their lead.
Brazilian midfielder Casemiro was fortunate to not have been sent off for a second reckless challenge while already on a booking and Harry Maguire also endured a difficult afternoon in the close-knit stadium. Both were hooked off at half time.
United lost control of the game prior to the midway interval and were dominated in spells as Luton rallied and went agonisingly close to taking a share of the spoils in front of a raucous home crowd.

United legend Scholes often comments on his side's performances and scathed his former club's showing against Luton as they nervously claimed another win.
Posting on his Instagram, Scholes said: 'Weird team Utd... reckon they could be the only team that could win five-nil and get hammered!'
Victory continued United's unbeaten start to the new year and further lifted their ambitions to qualify for next season's Champions League.
