The cinch is always box office though. It may not be packed with A-listers or be as visually enticing as its bigger budget rivals, but the storylines and dialogue are second to none. There’s a new villain every week depending on your perspective and time in the director’s chair is limited if you oversee too many successive flops or not enough entertainment for demanding audiences who are desperate to see a hit featuring their favourite stars.

As cup shocks go, Darvel’s win over Aberdeen will be hard to beat.
