Everton manager Sean Dyche will not allow a rare Merseyside derby victory to cloud the reality of the club's situation after admitting there is «miles to go».
The 2-0 win over Liverpool was their first at Goodison Park in almost 14 years and only their second in the last 30 encounters overall. It moved them eight points clear of 18th-placed Luton with four matches remaining.
But even with a third successive relegation scrap almost successfully negotiated a situation which would have been avoided without two separate deductions totalling eight points for historical breaches of profitability and sustainability rules Dyche said no-one should think they had turned a corner.
«There is miles to go. It's a thing I've thought about, the truth line of the club,» he said. «There has to be a level where everyone across the board gets it. All the fans and all people at the club and I still think we are not quite there.
»We are getting towards it, some of the reality of the club: the finances and where it is and there is no quick fix. It has to be built on.
Asked about feelings of safety now he added: «No there certainly shouldn't be, I'm not feeling that way.
