Gordon Hill has become the second former Manchester United star to be told he is being moved from the Old Trafford seat he has had for almost 30 years - and has vowed to address the debacle with new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Hill made more than 100 appearances for the Red Devils across a three year stay, but that is not enough to prevent his relocation. It comes just weeks after another ex-player, Norman Whiteside, was subjected to the same treatment.
Whiteside appeared more than 200 times for United in the 1980s, breaking through as a teenage star and scoring an iconic FA Cup Final goal. But he too has seen his platinum season tickets relocated. His wife claimed that the move stems from the fact the club want to expand executive seating, though the Red Devils have denied this.
Now Hill has taken to social media to vent his fury over the situation, posting on X: "Looks like I will not be taking my season tickets after having them from 1996, and being told you will be relocated I can not believe this from a club I represented and played my heart out for. I was given a reason which was bloody ridiculous I will be speaking to Jim. Not happy."
When asked by a follower if he knew the reason behind the decision to relocate his season ticket, Hill replied: "Ale room for Academy and women’s team. That’s it."
His sentiment was a similar one shared by the wife of Whiteside last month, who posted an image of her husband's seat alongside a caption that read: "So, it doesn't matter how long you've been a loyal supporter, doesn't matter if you played for your club, @ManUtd can just dump you from your seat when they feel like it, so they can expand exec seating! Absolute disgrace!
