Sergio Ramos makes Arsenal feelings clear with huge Champions League claim after Sevilla clash
Sevilla defender Sergio Ramos has rated Arsenal as one of the best teams in the Champions League after the two sides went head-to-head on Tuesday night. The Gunners made the trip across to Spain in hopes of picking up another three points in their pursuit of reaching the knockout rounds.
A win over PSV Eindhoven kicked off the European campaign, but defeat to RC Lens had thrown some doubt into the mix for finishing in the top two. With Sevilla's reputation in Europe, there was a tough tie ahead of them, despite the Spanish side's difficult start to life in the league.
They kept things tight in the opening half, but the home side weren't able to hold on until the halfway mark asGabriel Martinelli scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Just a few minutes after the break, some individual brilliance from Gabriel Jesus doubled Arsenal's lead.
It wasn't going to be a simple victory though as Sevilla hit back just moments later, with Nemanja Gudelj finding the back of the net. There were some nervous moments from the travelling squad late on, but they managed to do just enough to add another win to their European expedition.
Arsenal move back to the top of their group as a result of RC Lens and PSV Eindhoven drawing elsewhere, leaving them on six points after three games played. Another few wins will certainly see them qualify for the knockout rounds and amongst those jostling for the trophy at the end.
